So now down to my review of Macgruber.  When I heard Jorma Taccone was attached to this project I got very excited to see that there was going to be some great comedy coming to this film.  I admit the idea of a Macgruber movie in any capacity just seemed like there wasn’t much to go on, but they somehow managed to do it!

Now the painful truth I must give on this movie.  As much as I love The Lonely Island and Jorma’s odd humor, I was extremely disappointed in this film.  I am very relieved this wasn’t an officially stamped Lonely Island feature and I know Jorma wasn’t the sole writer of it, but I guess I just expected more from it even though I shouldn’t have expected anything going in.  The reviews coming in were saying it was a solid and funny film.  I didn’t agree, and I generally like a lot of films.  A huge comedy fan, in fact.

I definitely laughed at some parts… like GENUINELY laughed loud at some parts inside the 10-person filled auditorium without shame.  The Celery diversion was a true WTF moment and thought that was killer!  I’ll always remember that as being extremely funny.  Will Forte did a good job playing the role of MacGruber and Wiig was funny as well.  Some of the lines in the film were a bit under-par in my taste of funny factor.

Sadly despite the celery scene and a bit of the other stuff I found funny, I can’t say I’d ever consider watching this film again in theaters or on TV.  I was also bummed there wasn’t even any cameo by Jorma or Akiva (that I saw).  It’s complicated to say the film wasn’t terrible, but blah.  It was an OK film.  Meant to be a fun popcorn flick and I’d say if you have nothing else to watch you could try this film out, but I’d say wait for DVD or on-demand.

I’m VERY VERY sorry to Jorma for my comments on MacGruber.  I’m still a huge fan of the guy’s work and material he does with Akiva and Andy and definitely not hating on ya!

I still very avidly watch SNL every week for new episodes and continue to be a huge fan of The Lonely Island.  I cannot wait for the next album and new video shorts to come.  I just don’t have much time to devote anymore to this blog.  I will of course be checking mail always to respond to any inquiries you have on posts with the autographs and props areas, but for now I would just like to thank everyone who has been reading my blog and hopefully come back to it at some point.  I will be leaving it running for those looking for Hot Rod costume resources or other questions I can answer, but for now I just can’t keep up with everything going on between life and everything in it.

Any, Jorma and Kiv… keep bringing the laughs!  I will continue to be watching as a loyal fan and also can’t wait to see MacGruber and Jorma’s feature film directorial debut!

Rihanna was the musical guest as well as this week’s SNL Digital Short guest star for The Lonely Island’s latest Digital Short, “Shy Ronnie.”  I think Rihanna has an awesome voice in the musical world.  I was disappointed with the new album, with exception to “Russian Roulette,” which is definitely one of her best songs to date.  She did an awesome job with Andy in this new sketch.  Andy Samberg was in one of his best funny roles as well.  He always plays a great nerdy guy and the clothing attire they chose for him in this is classic.  It reminded me a bit of “Daquiry Girl.”

In my opinion this is one of my favorite SNL Digital Shorts and I think you’ll enjoy it if you haven’t yet seen it.  You can check out the embedded video below.  Enjoy!
