Joblo.com posted an interview with Andy about how things are going with his career and what is next for him. One thing that was great to hear is than Samberg wants to just continue doing comedy stuff and not so much into more serious roles. Andy has also confirmed that he will be back returning for SNL this September! More digital short goodness to come!

Here’s a bit of the interview/article written by Johnny Moreno:

So what do you have coming up? Are you sticking with comedy or are you going to venture out and do some more dramatic things?
I’m planning on sticking with comedy, I’m open for anything though. I’m going back to SNL in September. I finished the MTV Movie Awards in May, so I kind of been decompressing because we had a crazy SNL season and I did an album, then I did I LOVE YOU MAN, and press for that and press for the album. It was a lot jammed in to want to stretch. So after the movie I wanted to collapse.

Yeah, and now I’m just kind of coming back up for air.

Do you get antsy then, if you’re off for a little bit too long?
Yeah, a little bit. I’m trying to teach myself to not be again. Since we got SNL we kind of just been going non-stop and it’s incredibly gratifying to produce so much but my parents are like, “Just stop and relax, you owe it to yourself to relax. “ (laughs)

It looks like production is really ramping up fast for the MacGruber movie!

It was reported on movieweb that the film starring Will Forte and Kristin Wiig will start filming next month (August) in New Mexico.

Forte and Taccone wrote the parodies with John Solomon. The trio wrote the feature script, which takes the story in a completely different direction from the skits yet remains strangely familiar: The legendary, much decorated MacGruber is pulled out of retirement as a monk in Ecuador by a colonel, who needs him once more to fight on behalf of his country. This time the mission involves going up against the evil Cunth, who has a nuclear warhead; the mission is personal because Cunth killed MacGruber’s bride.

The movie version would see Phillippe playing Piper, an Army officer forced to pair up with a reluctant MacGruber. Kilmer would be Cunth.
